2009 Lansing Community Research Day
Graduate Medical Education, Inc (GMEI) and its institutional partners, MSU College of Human Medicine, MSU College of Osteopathic Medicine, Sparrow Health System and Ingham Regional Medical Center hosted the 4th Annual Lansing Community Research Day on April 16, 2009. This year’s event succeeded in drawing participation from medical students, residents and fellows from all GMEI partner institutions and across specialties.
Participants heard 14 oral presentations and viewed almost 60 poster presentations. More than 150 participants attended the awards luncheon and keynote presentation by Dr. Gary Ruoff, MD, Professor, Michigan State University, Kalamazoo Center for Medical Studies.
Judges admired the originality and quality of research submitted. Here are the 2009 award winners:
1st place Oral Presenter - Fellow: Jack Rubinstein, MD, MSU Cardiology Fellowship
2nd place Oral Presenter – Fellow was a tie between: Ameeth Vedre, MD, MSU Cardiology Fellowship and Karl D’Silva, MD, MSU Hematology/Oncology Fellowship
1st place Oral Presenter--Resident: Jiangyong Min, MD, Sparrow Neurology Residency
2nd place Oral Presenter – Resident: Razvan Opreanu, MD, MSU Surgery Residency
Best Oral Presentation by a Medical Student: Peter Hoekman, 3rd Year CHM Student
Best Poster by a Fellow: Ameeth Vedre, MD, MSU Cardiology Fellowship
