Lansing Patient Safety Initiative
Current Initiative

The Advisory Committee for the Lansing Patient Safety Initiative decided to focus efforts for 2007-2008 on creating a community-wide strategy to achieve 100% compliance with evidence-based hand hygiene and aseptic technique in the participating institutions and their provider networks. Efforts will focus on inpatient care, translating improved compliance into the teaching of medical students and graduate medical education trainees.

Current accomplishments of the Lansing Patient Safety Initiative include the following:

  • Submission of a proposal to the Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Michigan Foundation.
  • Comparison of hand hygiene policies of the two inpatient institutions.
  • Creation of a summary of articles (warning - large download) addressing patient safety at the educational, assessment and institutional levels.
  • Summary of Hand Hygiene and Nosocomial & Health-Associated Infection Prevention Recommendations.
